Cray Learning Systems

Information is a vital ingredient in increasing performance, but the receipt of information doesn't automatically result in acquired knowledge. Cray's Learning Systems Division was established to create these solutions for our clients.

Learning Systems approaches a knowledge or skills related performance problem on the basis of a simple formula:

The goal of Learning Systems therefore, is to change performance within the client organization by increasing the capabilities of its individual members. To achieve this objective, Learning Systems develops different types of training materials and teaching strategy for our client organizations. Effective training requires successful training techniques. Cray is committed to delivering on target results. In order to guarantee the desired training objectives, it is important to measure the results of the training programs. To do that, we utilize two basic techniques:
Certification - A comprehensive certification program accomplishes three objectives. First, pre and post testing confirms the actual knowledge gained through the training approach by the participants. These results determine the validity of the training process and supply information vital to improving the process. Second, participants are more likely to put in the required effort if they are aware that they will be tested. Third, testing identifies those participants who require additional training in order to reach the required level of competence.
Research - Utilizing a number of research techniques including surveys and procedures such as mystery shopping, research will determine whether the knowledge gained through the training process, is actually put into action on a day to day basis by the graduates. Again, this data will help determine any changes to the initial training or follow-up procedures.
